A professional Dodgeball League in the northeast

General Discussion
I am conducting a survey in regards to a new professional dodgeball league
with teams in new york/ new england.
Teams will be located in mid size cities such as Albany, Danbury, Worcester, Syracuse, Glens Falls, Springfield , etc, The talent from these teams will come from local college campuses via tryouts. How many of you would support this sport w/tickets in the $8 - $10 range ?

Ive been trying to get into a dodgeball league, but cant seem to find one in Connecticut. Traveling two hours to mass or new york on a weeknight is a little two much. I would be very interested in getting one started in CT.

connecticut dodgeball

I am also interested in getting involved with dodgeball in CT. I live in Danbury and I have about 60 people interested but I cannot get anyone to allow us to play at their facility... where are you from ... maybe we would have better luck there

we're coming!

Danbury huh? 60 people? If you are really interested in holding a tournament, e-mail me. I will make it happen. I understand that a lot of facilities are against dodgeball, but we can do it. e-mail me.

Professional League - Northeast

Commissioner,

I grew up in Peabody, Massachusetts. Live now in Anchorage, Alaska. I run a dodgeball league up here with 8 men's teams and 8 women's teams, 140+ athletes. We went to the NDL tournament in Vegas last September and took 2nd place in both open and co-ed.

I would be interested in learning more about your league and seeing if you would be interested in coming up here for a tourney and/or us coming your way...good excuse to get home and see my folks.

I would be all for a team in

I would be all for a team in Syracuse, heck we dont have anything up here. If it was possible, I think a real push should be made to make a "major league" of dodgeball. By creating a "supreme" league, it would produce great awareness. I think we should use the arena football league as a template because of the way its structured.

dodgeball

Abit off the subject

What make a dodgeball team pro? And how many balls would you play with? I figure anything over 2 balls would subtract from the game. I say this because: one which ball would the camera pan on? Two, I would miss out on seeing how a few players got out. Three, the games would more than likey move to quickly and I would miss good shots from time to time. Four, I have never seen a pro sport employ more than one ball usage at a time.

I'm just wondering and assuming because I'm abit lost as to how I see the NDL (assuming that this pro thing is with the NDL) playing with multiple balls. Don't get me wrong...I think what the NDL is doing for this sport is great! But I'm just as human or curious as the next man about this pro league.

Pro league

I live in saratoga, so I would come to 3-5 games there in Glens Falls, a few more if there was a team in Saratoga. A lot of kids in Saratoga like to play dodgeball (it's played every rainy day during gym class) so you would probabley get a good turn out ( for dodgeball) if you made a team there.

I would go

I live in rhode island, and don't have a car or a license, so it would not be a weekly thing, but I know I would head up as much as possible to games. The only thing that concerns me is the format you use to play, as I might end up making a two hour round trip to see twenty minutes or less of dodgeball.

Anywhere near Scranton

Anyone know of any tourneys or clinics for dodgeball in or near the scranton area?

I beg to differ

I agree to some extent of what "Anonymous" is trying to say about d-ball not being a spectator sport, but are being a bit too sarcastic when you say "it's boring" and generalize that everyone is going to think it's boring to watch?

BTW when you say you run the largest Dodgeball league in America, are you 100% sure and if you are, why do you talk as if you didn't want dodgeball to become a bigger sport? I find it quite contradicting. But I'm interested in hearing from you and what you are doing to help out with the d-ball community. Thx~!

EDIT: I frogot to talk about our interest in joining this professional dodgeball league. We are located at RIT (Rochester Institute of Tech.) @ Rochester, NY. We are willing to travel within the NY area to play in a professional league and tryout if you wish. Just get a hold of me. Thanks~!

professional league

Dodgeball is not a spectator sport. It only welcomes spectatorship to the extent that friends and family might want to support their loved ones occasionally. I ask you this- have you ever sat through a dodgeball tournament? For the most part, it's boring.

Here's a good example. Look at extreme dodgeball on the game show network. How much money do you think they spent to get that thing going? And was it a success- maybe it was at first (seeing as though they launched it along with Dodgeball The Movie). But look at it now...

I run the largest dodgeball league in America. I love the game- don't get me wrong. But dodgeball is for the masses not the professionals.

contact me at 617-792-6546 or pnaddaff@yahoo.com if you would like to talk more about this.

Where are you located? Large

Where are you located? Largest in America?

Biggest, I think not?

If your the biggest, what is your company called. I play in many tournaments and think are not boring at all. Even the rival teams are cheering on eachother while not playing.
