In a world driven by violence, as seen in the entertainment industry, one must consider the legalization of head shots. In numerous leagues I have reserached and in playing pick up games, head shots were always illegal. In most cases, through experience, I have not witnessed any serious injuries. A black eye or a bloody nose here and there is generally the extent of your typical head shot. I think these minor battle scars are exactly that; minor. There should be a movement to put players more in harm's way. Watch as they experience broken noses and lost teeth. People watch NASCAR for its fiery collisions and 20-car pile-ups. People also watch ESPN's, "Jacked Up," a segment dedicated to the top five bone-crushing hits of the week in football. Nothing better could capture the viewers' longing for gore than to have someone get slammed in the face with a ball from 20 feet away, watching his mouthgaurd fly out of his mouth like a left uppercut from Ali, and having his blood splash to the mat in a puddle of defeat and cowardice. The final result: an endless amount of fans screaming and yelling with their cameras on open shutter. This folks, captures the essence of dodgeball and the American passion and pride of a truly entertaining sport.
