DODGEBALL is in the UK

Teams and Leagues
HI , i am starting a dodgeball league in essex which is sanctioned by the international dodgeball federation.I have read many of the threads on this notice board, and there seems to be lots who want to play.If we are going to get things moving we need to work together.i get several emails per day passed to me from the international dodgeball federation from peeps wanting to play.obviously a national league is not goin to fly at the moment. what we need is several local leagues all playing by the same rules. The official rule book from the IDBF is 35 pages long and covers most of the variations commonly used.what i propse is that we all play a hybrid version of the official rules which will include some of the nice bits of dodgeball extreme.

ok now for some organising..
anybody prepared to organise a league please contact me on steveofessex@aol.com
anybody interested in playing also contact me and i can redirect you mail to whoever is volunteering to get the league started in your area.
once i have some volunteers to start leagues ill send out a propsed rule book that we can all input our veiws to. once a rule book is agreed nationally we can get goin .

thx for reading this long winded message.

steve

UKDBA is in action.

This forum has just come to life again. If anyone looks here I just want to let everyone know that the UK Dodge Ball Association is now fully operational. We have an executive committee of dedicated dodgeballers. We are holding the first ever British Championship tournament on 13th May 2007, in Leicester.
The official closing date for entries is 28th April, but there are a couple of places still open, as long as teams get the Entry Form and payment in by 5th May. E-mail info@ukdba.org or phone 01536-526487

UKDBF Website

Just checked out the website and I am wondering why it is not open yet. Also noticed the logo, does anyone else think it looks hand drawn? I've also been on the UKDBA's website & by comparrison the UKDBA looks more professional and better to enter a team through.

UKDBF theres plenty more fish in the sea.

Just wondering what every one else thinks

we realy need a 10 to 14s mat

I run a team of 13-14 year olds.

Hi, I'm in Cheltenham and

Hi,

I'm in Cheltenham and am looking into forming a dodgeball team but unfortunatly can't find much information about dodgeball in this area. Anyone who can give me any info about starting up perhaps a dodgeball league or whatever I'm up for the challenge of getting one started.

I'll also mention I'm a web designer and would be happy to create a site for whatever dodgeball related purpose. I've created one for my local football team I play for... http://www.stjamesfc.co.uk - just so you can get an idea of what I can do (this is a content managed site - meaning it can all be updated automatically and easily from any web browser).

Cheers

UK Dodgeball League

I seriously think there should be a British Dodgeball League. I and a couple of friends at school are starting a dodgeball club and we would love to take our teams to other places and play other teams

UK Dodgeball League

Yes, I agree totally! People say it's not a real sport but (and a huge but) top atheletes practice their skills using the skills of Dodgeball. Me and my bro want to join but I don't have a BCG jab (even though I'm nearly sixteen) so we can't go to America to do it and it would be far easier here than anywhere else. Seriously, if you had it publicised more, I bet more people would want to join...the only way I found out was because I saw a Canadian Charity Dodgeball Championship!

If it starts in the UK, I'll see you there!

UK Dodgeball League

The UKDBA are organising youth leagues. Whilst our rules state that all players must be 18yrs or older (due to insurance stipulations) we feel that it is essential to introduce the sport/game to all ages and all skill levels. We are implementing a plan to introduce the game to those below 18yrs of age.

For more info please contact Debbie 01536 526493 or debbie@ukdba.org

UNITED KINGDOM DODGEBALL FEDERATION

HI .
I have been discussing with several of you like minded enthusiasts.
The uk needs to create a governing body for the sport, I am currently looking into the insurance aspects required for setting up a fully functioning governing body which will be able sanction league and tournament play in the uk. After discussions with IDBF president Rusty Walker the IDBF are not able to sanction events in the uk as their insurance policy does not cover events held outside the US.
A govering body will require volunteers to help run and plan things around the country.
If we can sort out these insurance issues and start to sanction events and leagues under the UKDBF banner other dodgeball associations around the world will recognise us as the governing body for the sport in the uk.
Each area requires a league commisioner, im looking for volunteers for these positions. An official web site is currently being designed the details of which will be posted when it is finalised.
Things are starting to move in the right direction ... dont sit on your ass waiting for others to do things ,, get going on creating your own teams and leagues.
Until we can officially launch a governing body anybody can email me on steveofessex@aol.com

IF you want to be a founder member of the governing body please contact me . i will fill you in on what we have done so far

cheers steve

I have been playing dodgeball with youth group I run in the evenings and have taken to it in a big way! I would love to be involved in playing in a league and getting a chance to play this on a serious level up here in Scotland. Can anyone give me some advice or can I help. United Kingdom Dodgeball Federation

Hi Im Bryce Hope in Scotland
I think what you are trying to do is great. I for one would be happy to help and support you in this project. Please reply with more details.

ref UK league

How did you get your league sanctioned by IDF? How many teams make a league, really what is the minimum?

Where did you source your equipment? etc

And finally you sound well suited to start putting together a UK dodgeball federation.

We can then get more proffesional with sanctioned refs etc.

Bodge

setting up a league

hey bodge , why dont you contact me.
things are moving along at a rapid pace now, soon as the insurance is sorted we plan to float the first official open evening and league sanctioned by the UKDBF.
We hope to have around 40 teams in the league. That may seem a lot but when u consider a team might play 3 or 4 matches in one evening its not that bad.
Keep your eyes open for the launch of WWW.UKDBF.CO.UK it will have a downloadable set of uk rules and some guides on setting up teams and leagues.

cheers steve
