Peripheral vision
Submitted by houseofcards on Sat, 03/11/2006 - 20:03. OpinionPeripheral Vision is what you see on the edge of your center of vision. It's usually really bad (in humans at least) at distinguishing shape and colour, but it comes in very useful in Dodgeball.
Peripheral vision's main advantage is in detecting movement, although it's better in the dark. And let's face it, who in their right mind plays dodgeball in the dark?
To check your peripheral vision:-
1- close an eye and stretch your arms out sideways.
2- swing your arms forward slowly. making a note of where you can see your hands appear.
3- if you see your hand opposite the closed eye at 90 degrees to your nose, and the other side's hand at 30 degrees to your nose, everything is ok.
But why is it so important in Dodgeball?
You need to pay attention to what's going on all around you.

Six men run for the centre-line to grasp the newly imported Dodgeballs (yes, cheaper to import from the USA to the UK than buy in the UK - further posted 14FEBUSA arrive 17FEBUK - thank you USA) at my local Army Reservist training centre. In seconds there is one man left standing; has he the courage to react under fire? Can he risk a catch to bring his teammates back on? Will he reduce the other team and secure a win?
THWACK! Nope..he keels over, victory to the 'Pimlico Pirates!' Arrrrr....
One week ago I sat at home on a dull chilly night in London and groaned at seeing yet another episode of Friends, and the continuation of depresssion perpetuated by those miserable EastEnders (kill them all). So on went a DVD, and it was DOdgeball - brilliant, witty, suggestive, funny as hell and perfectly beliveaball! First watched a pirate copy in Iraq, when there were other ditractions..
